About Journal of Labor and Society & Peer-Reviewing Process
The author is required to send a report obtained from "turnitin.com" or “intihal.net”, along with the manuscript to the editor-in-chief. The similarity rate in this report should be at most 20%, excluding the bibliography. Manuscripts with a higher similarity rate than 20% or manuscripts without a similarity report during submission by the author will not be included in the evaluation process and will be rejected. The author is solely responsible for the production and the content of the similarity report. In cases where it is stated by the author that the similarity rate above 20% was inevitable due to exceptional reasons such as the subject, the methods or techniques employed in the manuscript, the Journal's field editors evaluate the author's justifications on this issue and make a final decision on whether the article will be submitted to the referee process, or not.
The Journal of Labor and Society is a peer-reviewed academic journal. A double-blind peer review system is applied in the journal. The manuscripts submitted to the journal are first checked by the editor-in-chief and then by the field editors by hiding the author information in terms of compliance with the Journal’s scope, academic ethics, and grammar rules. If a manuscript does not comply with these criteria, the author(s) notify by the editor-in-chief via e-mail.
Following the review made by the field editors, the accepted manuscripts are submitted to the Editorial Board and are sent separately to two reviewers who are known for their scientific studies in the field. The reviewers basically review by filling a manuscript evaluation form and decide one of the following: "may published without revision", "may published with minor/major revision" or "rejection". In line with the reviewer reports, the authors may be asked to make some revisions in their manuscripts. The reviewer’s reports are checked by the field editors and in case of any hesitation, field editors have options such as to propose a new reviewer and submitting it to the editorial board's opinion. The final decision on publishing the manuscript belongs to the Editorial Board or the editor-in-chief. Any information and reviewer reports regarding the decision of the Editorial Board and/or the editor-in-chief are sent to the author's e-mail by the editor-in-chief.
The phases of the reviewing process are pursued by the editor based on the confidentiality of the authors and reviewers.
The reviewer reports are kept in the Journal archives for five years. For unspecified issues, the Journal secretariat can be called.
Rules for Exceptions
- All stages of the manuscripts submitted for publication by the field editors are carried out on the same confidentiality rules by the Editor-in-chief, by excluding the field editor, who is the author, from the editorial and review process.
- If the editor-in-chief wishes to submit a manuscript, all stages are carried out on the same confidentiality rules by one of the field editors or one of the senior members of the Editorial Board, whose title is full Professor.
- If those who serve as editorial board or editor for special themed issues want to publish manuscripts in that issue, they are subject to the above rules regarding the publishing of manuscripts by the field editors and the editor-in-chief.
Rules for Special Issues
- The subject of the issues to be published around a special theme and the proposal on who the special theme editor (if any) will be presented to the Editorial Board by the Editor-in-chief after receiving the opinion of the field editors. The Editor-in-chief decides in line with the opinions received. In special themed issues, the editorial and reviewing processes are carried out in accordance with the evaluation process rules of the Journal.
- The entire special issue can be devoted to a specific theme, or the manuscripts outside the theme can be published separately from the specific theme section. At least 11 articles (in total) should be published in special themed issues.
- The manuscripts of special themed issues can be collected from the authors by invitation or by making an open call to the public in the Journal issues. Both methods can be applied together.
Aim and Scope
The Journal of Labor and Society aims to publish scientific works prepared under the principles and methods of social policy on all topics within the scope of social policy, which is an interdisciplinary field of study. For this purpose, Journal of Labor and Society aims to cover studies prepared on;
- labor law
- social security law
- labor economics
- social economy
- industrial relations
- workers health and safety
- income distribution and poverty
- sociology of work
- psychology of work
- social development and social problems
- human rights and freedoms
- social services and similar topics.
Submitting Manuscripts
- Submitted manuscripts should not have been previously published elsewhere or should not be in the process of reviewing for publication.
- All responsibility for the published articles belongs to the author(s).
- Manuscripts to be sent to the Journal should be sent to the e-mail address of the editor-in-chief as a file in (.doc) or (.docx) format.
- Manuscripts submitted to the Journal should be prepared in "1,5 line spacing" and "12-point Times New Roman" fonts.
- The title of the manuscript must be prepared in two different languages as Turkish and English.
- It is preferred that the manuscripts do not exceed 10 thousand words including with the bibliography. Keywords and abstracts between 150–200 words should also be included in the manuscript bilingually. In the abstract, the scope and purpose of the research should be stated, the method used should be defined and the brief results should be given. In addition, the manuscript should include an extended summary of around 750-800 words.
- The name(s) of the author(s) should be placed on the cover page to be attached to the manuscript, instead on the first page of the manuscript. Besides the name(s) of the author(s), this cover page should include the title of the manuscript in Turkish and English, the address(es), e-mail information(s), telephone number(s) and ORCHID number(s) of the author(s). In case the submitted manuscript has more than one author, the corresponding author should be indicated on this cover page.
- Statements
In accordance with the rules of TRDİZİN, “At the end of the article; Researchers' Contribution Rate Statement, Statement of Support and Acknowledgments, if any, and Conflict of Interest Statement should be included”. While preparing these statements, scientific publication rules and ethical principles should be taken into consideration.
Contribution Rate Statement of Researchers: If there is more than one author in the manuscript, this statement should be added. This statement should include information about how the authors contributed to the manuscript.
Statement of Support and Acknowledgments: If there are any institutions, organizations or individuals who contributed with support such as project contribution, awards, support, data provision etc. while preparing the manuscript, all of them should have stated. Also, if it is necessary to thank the institution(s), organization(s) or person(s) for their various contributions, it should be added to the statement.
Conflict of Interests Statement: If the manuscript prepared by a single author, conflicts of interest with institutions, organizations or individuals should be stated in this statement. If the manuscript prepared by more than one author, an additional conflict of interest among the authors should also be stated here.
- Manuscripts should be prepared under the following “ethical rules”, “in-text citation” and “bibliography” methods.

Citation format must comply with APA 7 style.

In-text Citations
- All references in the main text should have indicated by the in-text footnote system. The surname of the author(s), the year of publication and the cited page number(s) are indicated by opening parentheses at the appropriate place in the text. If the same references are referred again in the text, the same method is applied, abbreviations such as op. cit., ibid., should not be used. Example: (Timur, 2000: 89).
- If the cited author's name is mentioned in the text, there is no need to repeat the author's surname in parentheses. Example: Reşat Kasaba sees it as a result of the Empire's integration in the capitalist world economy in the mid-18th century (2005: 57).
- If the cited reference has two authors, both the surnames should be used. Example: (Postman and Powers, 1996: 122)
- If there are more than two authors, after the surname of the first author the phrase et al. should be used. Example: (Keyman et al., 1996:149)
- If the references are more than one, the references must be separated by semicolons. Example: (Brummet, 2003: 150; Heinzelman, 2004: 101)
- For additional explanations that are not preferred to be included in the text, the footnote method should be used. The above reference method should also be applied for the references to be made in this footnote.
Bibliography
- In the bibliography, only the references cited in the manuscript should be included and alphabetical order should be followed according to the surname of the author.
- If more than one reference of the same author is to be included in the bibliography, an order should be made from oldest to newest according to the publication date. For references belonged to the same year, a, b, c. phrases should be used, and these should be the same for the references made in the text.

Ethical Rules
The spelling rules of the articles submitted to the Journal of Labor and Society have been changed based on the TUBITAK/ULAKBIM (TRDIZIN) Standards. These changes are stated in the articles to be published, in the section “Author Instructions”. We kindly ask all our authors to prepare their manuscripts with due regard to the specified rules.
The Journal is published based on TUBITAK/ULAKBIM (TRDIZIN) Standards, based on the ethical principles and rules determined within the scope of the Interuniversity Board Scientific Research and Publication Ethics Directive and the Publication Ethics Committee COPE Directive. Actions contrary to the scientific research and publication ethics stated in the UAK Directive are listed below. The authors are expected not to act contrary to the stated research and publication ethics and to comply with the ethical rules.
- Plagiarism: To present the original ideas, methods, data or works of others as their own work in whole or in part, without citing in accordance with scientific rules,
- Fraud: Using data that does not actually exist, or that has been falsified in scientific research,
- Distortion: Falsifying the research records or the data obtained, presenting devices or materials that are not used in the research as if they were used, falsifying, or shaping the research results in line with the interests of the people and organizations that receive support,
- Republishing: Presenting duplicated publications as separate publications in academic appointments and promotions,
- Salami-Slice Publishing: Dividing the results of research into pieces in a way that disrupts the integrity of the research and publishing them in more than one issue and to present these publications as separate publications in academic appointments and promotions,
- Unethical authorship: Including people who have no active contribution among the authors or not including those who do, changing the order of authors in an unjustified and inappropriate way, removing the names of those who contributed actively from the work in subsequent editions, including his name among the authors by using his influence, even though she/he has no active contribution,
- Other types of ethical violations;
- Not specifying the people, institutions or organizations that provide support and their contributions in the publications made as a result of the research conducted with support,
- To use thesis or studies that have not yet been submitted or accepted as a reference without the permission of the owner,
- Not complying with patient rights in their publications,
- To violate the provisions of the relevant legislation in biomedical research or other clinical research related to humans,
- To share the information in a work assigned to review with others before it is published without the explicit permission of the author,
- To misuse the resources, places, facilities, and devices provided or allocated for scientific research,
- To publish the data obtained without the explicit consent of the participants in surveys and attitude studies conducted within the scope of a scientific study or, if the research will be conducted in an institution, to publish the data obtained without the permission of the institution,
- In research and experiments, to harm animals and the ecological balance, not to get written permissions from the authorized units before starting the research, to carry out studies contrary to the provisions of the legislation or the international conventions to which Turkey is a party, regarding the relevant research and experiments,
- Failure to comply with the obligation of researchers or authorities to inform and warn those concerned about possible harmful practices related to scientific research carried out,
- Not to use the data and information obtained from other persons and institutions to the extent and in the manner permitted, not to comply with the confidentiality of this information and not to ensure its protection.
Bibliography
On Pricing, Royalties and Other Payments
- The Journal of Labor and Society is based on open access rules. There is no fee for access to both the online and print versions of the Journal.
- The Journal of Labor and Society does not pay royalties to authors. Authors agree that they have transferred their copyrights to the Journal free of charge, upon submitting manuscripts to the editor-in-chief for publication.
- The authors are not required to pay a fee under any name for reviewing and the publication of their manuscripts in the Journal.
